The approach to sport  at the Marist Senior School is in line with the belief that education is concerned with the whole human being, and that every pupil has the ability to achieve something worthwhile or even to excel, in some field.

Core PE
We closely follow the National Curriculum guidelines at Key Stage 3 and 4 and also provide compulsory PE to the Sixth Form.  In Years 7,8 and 9 girls participate in a programme of:

• hockey
• netball
• health-related exercise
• swimming
• tennis
• athletics
• rounders
• orienteering
• dance 

 
In Years 10 and 11 basketball, volleyball, rugby, table tennis and keep fit are introduced. Our aim is that by the time the girls leave school they will have experienced at least one leisure time activity which they will want to pursue thereafter.

Extra-Curricular Sport
All girls are encouraged to attend extra-curricular activities both during the lunch hour and after school. We run a large number of school teams who compete both locally and further afield.  Although the school achieves successes at every level of competition from local through to national finals, the PE Department believe in promoting activities for all on a recreational basis. The school has a happy mix of talented individuals gaining representative honours at County, Regional and National levels, and those who participate simply for the sheer enjoyment of being able to socialise with others who share their interest.

Inter-House Sport
The school is divided into 4 houses Campion, Chanel, Fisher and More. Various competitions take place throughout the year. All girls are encouraged to participate in these activities.
