Crerar Antony - has been selected for the U14 British Aerobic Gymnastic Squad

Lucy Farrell - Lucy has been selected for the I Excel Programme for Synchronised Swimming. We are delighted at her ranking in the top 8 girls in the country for her age group

 The Department facilities include :

  • Indoor heated 20m swimming pool
  • Traditional gymnasium
  • Dance studio
  • Playing fields - 2 grass hockey pitches/4 rounders pitches/grass running track
  • 4 netball courts/5 tennis courts 
  • Olympic sized (9m) long jump pit with a 30m all weather track
  • Fitness Room - New September 2010

Core PE

All pupils follow a core PE curriculum which runs in line with the National Curriculum.

Pupils in years 7-9 will study across the Key Stage
Athletics , Dance, Health Related Exercise , Hockey, Lifesaving, Netball , Orienteering , Personal Survival, Rounders, Swimming , Synchronised Swimming, Tennis.
Pupils in years 10 &11 will study across Key Stage 4 Athletics, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Netball, Table Tennis, Volleyball.
 
Pupils in the Sixth form are offered the following PE options : self defence, yoga, pilates, street dance, boxerfit, aqua aerobics, recreational swimming, fitness room
 


Extra-Curricular Sport
All girls are encouraged to attend extra-curricular activities both during the lunch hour and after school. We run a large number of school teams who compete both locally and further afield.  Although the school achieves successes at every level of competition  the PE Department believe in promoting activities for all on a recreational basis as well. The school has a happy mix of talented individuals gaining representative honours at County, Regional and National levels, and those who participate simply for the sheer enjoyment of being able to partake in sport as part of a healthy balanced lifestyle.

Fixtures and Tournaments

 
We enter all local and regional tournaments which run throughout the academic year in netball, hockey and athletics
 
  
Fixtures are played against local schools in the area after school up to 4 days of the week in netball, hockey, athletics,
 
 
swimming, tennis and rounders. County and invitation tournaments are attended at weekends.
 
 
Sporting Success at The Marist 2010-11
The Marist Senior School have once again had a phenomenal year of sporting success and this success was celebrated at our annual Sports Awards Evening on 5th July 2011. Anna Hemmings, six-time world champion canoeist , was an inspirational guest speaker and the  girls, parents and staff were delighted to hear her talk at the event.

July 2011
The evening celebrated all the sporting success of the year 2010-11 and demonstrated the wide range of acheivements the girls have accrued this year.
2nd July
178 Staff, Pupils, Staff, Mums, Sisters, Grandmas & Friends signed up to be part of The Marist Race for Life Team and took part in the annual 5K event at Windsor Racecourse. 
With bespoke t shirts and vest tops the team members, cancer sufferers, survivors and supporters,  had a fantastic afternoon walking, jogging and running the 5K with friends and family members. The team ranged in age from 7-67 and we are delighted to announce that we have bewteen us raised over £4000 for cancer research .

Sports Awards Evening 2011 – Guest Speaker Anna Hemmings – Six Time World Champion Canoeist
On Tuesday 5th July we hosted our second Sports Awards Evening in the main hall. The 240 guests inlcuded pupils , parents, governors, staff and guest speaker Anna Hemmings – Six Time World Champion Canoeist.

Sports Awards Evening June 2010
The Guest Speaker for our inaugural Sports Awards Evening was Karen Atkinson—England Netball Co-Captain
220 pupils parents staff and coaches attended the formal dress event in the main hall. Annual awards such as hockey player of the year were awarded along side new award such as Elite Sportswoman of the Year award Sophia Candappa & Olivia Chilton and Commitment to Schools Sports Award – Kayla Spitzer & Amy Shingles. All four girls were presented with a personally engraved glass tumbler as a memento of their time spent playing sport at The Marist

Inter-House Sport
The school is divided into 4 houses Campion, Chanel, Fisher and More. Various competitions take place throughout the year. All girls are encouraged to participate in these activities.

Sports Scholarships

KS3-4

Sports scholarships are awarded annually and are available from years 7-11 with a 25% abatement of school fees.  

Girls apply for the sports scholarship in Year 6 and as assessment day takes place in the Spring Term

Strong candidates for scholarship are likely to be those pupils who are regularly playing /attending an external sports club in activities such as swimming, netball, hockey or athletics. Sports scholars are expected to show full commitment to The Marist extra curricular programme and be a role model to their year group. They are expected to take GCSE Physical Education

Sixth Form Sports Scholarship

The sixth form sports scholarship applied for in year 11 and an interview takes place with the Mrs Bishopp. It is awarded to the pupil who demonstrates significant talent in at least one major sport. They will have shown full commitment to school sports throughout KS3&4 and are expected to take A Level Physical Education.
