Admissions & Registration (this section also includes information about fees, scholarships & sibling discounts)

Admissions Policy
The Governors of the Marist Schools have admissions criteria for pupils joining the schools.  The Marist Schools are Catholic Schools.  The Schools welcome all Christians and those in sympathy with our ethos.  Subject to meeting the entrance requirements of the Senior School, at age 11, Marist Preparatory pupils have precedence over girls seeking admittance from elsewhere.  About one half of the Senior School places are available to girls from other schools.

Admissions Procedure
Following on from your initial enquiry we warmly invite you to visit us at the Marist Senior School (with its Sixth Form). An appointment is easily made and you will get a chance to meet the staff and to tour the school and see us in action.  There will be an opportunity for a personal interview with the Headteacher to discuss your family’s particular needs.

The next step is registration to confirm your interest.  There is a fee of £100 that accompanies this process which is non-returnable.

Entrance Criteria
The Senior School is academically selective. Most girls join the school at 11+ but there are also entrants at 13+ and Sixth Form and occasionally in other years.  At 11+ girls must pass the Marist Senior School entrance examination. Girls sit the Cognitive Ability Test (CATS).  In addition girls will be asked to submit a portfolio/record of achievement on the day of the examination.  A compulsory interview with the Headteacher is also required as well as a reference from the girl’s Primary or Preparatory Headteacher.  In exceptional circumstances or if students live overseas the examination may be taken at other times.

Scholarships

Scholarships for Year 7 entry

There are 3 academic scholarships available for entry into Year 7.  The criteria for awarding these scholarships are:
• Academic excellence in the entrance examination
• Exceptional all round ability.  A portfolio, record of achievement or progress  file will be required as evidence
• Candidates must be aged 11 on or before 31 August prior to entering Year 7

From this information some girls will be invited to sit a Scholarship examination and attend for interview by the senior management team of the Senior School.  This includes the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and Senior Teacher.

In addition there are 3 subject scholarships worth a remission of 25% of the annual tuition fees.

These are:
• 1 art scholarship
• 1 sports scholarship
• 1 drama scholarship

Furthermore there are up to 3 music exhibitions available per year group. The exhibitions pay for the pupil's music lesson fees for one instrument.

Girls who are awarded scholarships are expected to  complete their education at the School up to Advanced Level/university entrance.  If scholarships are not awarded in any year this will be due to candidates not meeting in full the required standards.  Trustees reserve the right not to award scholarships in a particular year where this is the case.

Applications for subject scholarships and exhibitions must be returned to the school office prior to girls sitting the entrance examination.  Scholarships are offered on a competitive basis.  Girls will be offered scholarships only after having accepted a place at the Marist Senior School.

Girls will be eligible for scholarship examination/interview only if they are committed/firm candidates for the Senior School.  Scholarships are subject to an annual review.  A major review takes place at the end of Year 11.

Please download the application forms and post back to the Senior School for the attention of Mrs Barker, Admissions Registrar:

A further four scholarships worth 25% of the tuition fees exist for:
