Pastoral Care

All our staff take the time to get to know each and every girl which enables them to provide a tailored approach to teaching, caring for and developing her as an individual.

"The quality of support and guidance given to all pupils is outstanding, reflecting the traditions of the Marist Sisters and consistent with the school’s commitment to be a caring community where the needs of all are attended to."  (Source: The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection report 2008.)

Pastoral care at the Preparatory school covers many aspects of a girl's school life including:

Personal development - we provide a wide range of opportunities to develop a girl's spiritual, moral, social and cultural awareness through the curriculum and extra-curricular activities.

Spiritual development - assemblies/collective worships are one of the main contributors to a girl's spiritual development, they are calm and reverential. Appreciations of beauty, and an awareness of deeper feelings are nurtured through art and music. We are also fortunate to be surrounded by tranquil grounds which give first hand experiences of the natural world.

Cultural development - this is fostered through music, drama, geography, history, PSHE and art curriculum and also by visits to museums, art workshops and residential activities.

Moral development - this is an important aspect of all areas of school life. It is strongly and positvely influenced by the religious ethos of the school and the school's mission statement. Respect for each individual is a fundamental value. We encourage responsible attitudes at all times.

Social development - our girls have a strong sense of social responsibility both within and outside of the school. The older pupils help the younger girls at lunchtime, with reading and with sports. Outside of school they organise fund raising activities to support local and national charities.
