Preparatory School
Welcome to the Preparatory School section of our website. I hope that as you browse through these pages, you will be able to find the information that you require about our wonderful school. Additionally, I hope that you will gain an insight into our Marist values and what makes our school unique.
The school was established here in 1947 by the Marist Sisters and they still live on site and take an active interest in the running of the school. We are a Catholic school, teaching the Catholic faith and living out the Gospel values, which are shared by all faiths and are the foundation of all our relationships and the daily life of our school. We welcome and embrace girls of all faiths and we recognise and celebrate our similarities and differences, developing mutual respect, understanding and tolerance.
As the Mission Statement says, we aim that when our girls leave us they should be the unique people that God created. We celebrate the talents and gifts of each girl and enable her to develop her full potential spiritually, morally, academically, creatively, socially and physically. We also want the girls to have confidence and high self-esteem. We achieve this by nurturing the girls as they progress through our school, ably supported by a team of committed, dedicated staff who work tirelessly for the girls. We believe that the girls will learn best when they are appropriately challenged in a happy, caring and supportive environment. They are encouraged to show courtesy, consideration and good manners and to reach out to those who are less fortunate than themselves.
On a personal note I have been at the Marist for over 10 years, becoming Headteacher in May 2011. I love the challenge of working with the girls. It is such a joy to see their faces and the progress they make from two and half to eleven years old. Each step on their journey is special. It is lovely too, to see our Marist girls progress on into the Marist Senior School. I have been here long enough now to see some of the Sixth Formers I taught when they were in the Prep School. They are a wonderful inspiration for our girls, as you really do see the ‘end product’ of a truly delightful, confident, ‘Marist young woman’ ready to address the challenges of the world.
