The Marist Community Join Race for Cancer Research UK
28 July 2008
A team of 45 Marist pupils, teachers, mothers, sisters, aunts and grandmothers joined the RACE FOR LIFE, at Dorney Lake, in Windsor on Sunday 27 July to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
This is the third year the Marist Schools have formed a team to enter the race. Last year the schools raised over £1000 for Cancer Research UK and were keen to support the charity again. The team completed the 5km race around Dorney Lake, joining the 2500 women taking part to help more people survive cancer.
Cancer Research UK is a charity that the Schools are very keen to support and the race is becoming an annual Marist Community event to look forward to. The team was helped enormously by its sponsors ‘First Choice Mini-Bus Services’, ‘O’Tooles Swimming School’, ‘SHORTS group’ and ‘Office Expert Ltd’.‘
Cancer Research hopes to smash their fundraising target of £213,000 this year and the Marist is proud to be part of the larger team helping the charity reach that goal.
