New ICT Suite at the Prep School
23 June 2010
ICT Suite is opened by pupils
The Marist Preparatory School has opened its brand new ICT Suite. What was unusual about this event was that our lucky ribbon cutters were officially the Headteachers for the day at the ages of 7-11 Years old.
Cecelia Rice, Jessica Bennett, Imogen Naldrett and Lexi Naldrett have had the opportunity to run the school for two days after winning the opportunity in an auction at the Marist Fundraising Ball held at Wentworth last weekend, which in total raised nearly £23,000 so far.
Mrs Jenny Peachey, the Headteacher for the Preparatory School, has stepped down from her role to allow the girls to lead assemblies to the whole school, tour the schools to note improvements and announce a treat of their choice for the school. The two treats which they announced to their peers was an extra ½ hour playtime and no homework over the weekend – both treats were well received!
Jessica Bennett commented “this is the best day at school ever” after giving her official welcome speech to parents and pupils at the Year 3 swimming gala with Cecilia Rice.
The girls took over the Headteachers office, dictated a letter to the school secretary, received a call from a prospective parent, and visited the Senior School Head teacher, Mr McCloskey to discuss running the of the Marist Schools.
This is the first purpose built ICT facility at the school; previously laptops have been used to deliver the ICT curriculum. The flat screen computers and desks are in rows facing a smart board, allowing the girls to learn in a comfortable and supportive environment.
