Staff and students at the Marist Preparatory School have welcomed the publication of the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) report this week.

The school was inspected during May 2008 and the inspectors have commended the school in many areas.  The ISI report, which has just been published, highlights that the personal development of pupils is ‘outstanding’ and that staff and pupil relationships are ‘excellent and based on mutual respect’ with ‘Enjoyment… a key factor in many lessons.’  The report also noted that ‘fund-raising for charities and ‘good causes’ both local and global is considerable.’

Mrs Jenny Peachey, Headteacher at the Marist Preparatory School, is delighted with the report. She said ‘the inspectors found the pupils’ attitudes and behaviour excellent in addition to the quality of the teaching.  The school prides itself on being a caring community.  Providing excellent education in a nurturing environment is important to all pupils, parents and staff.’  She went on to say ‘The inspectors have also helped us identify areas where we can continue to improve.   These include promoting more opportunities for independent learning, supporting teachers in continually developing their ICT skills, and extending our provision for more able children.  I’m grateful to the inspectors for all their hard work and constructive comments upon which we are acting.  I am delighted with the report overall and am very proud of all the pupils and staff in making The Marist such a unique school in which to learn and work.’

The report is available via the ISI website: http://www.isi.net/report/0650.htm
